SECURITY PLANS FOR PROPANE MARKETERS
DO YOU HAVE A SECURITY PLAN?
Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR 172.802 establishes the requirements for a security plan. You must develop and implement a security plan if you offer for transportation or transport propane in a cargo tank motor vehicle having a water capacity of 792 gallons or greater. If your company falls into this category, you need a security plan to meet the DOT requirements, as well as to protect your employees, your customers, and your company.
SECURITY PLAN REQUIREMENTS
- At a minimum, your security plan must address personnel security, unauthorized access, and en route security.
- In-depth training must be conducted with all hazmat employees and documented at least once every 3 years.
- Your security plan must be reviewed at least annually, and revised as necessary to reflect any changes and/or updates needed.
