Is Colorado’s bulk-installation fire safety analysis the customer leak-check file?

No. Colorado’s fire safety analysis requirement addresses the installation and fire protection planning. A customer leak-check report records a different activity and does not replace that analysis.

Keep the site analysis available at the installation

Section 2-6 requires a written fire safety analysis for new installations with aggregate capacity exceeding 4,000 gallons. It must be completed by the date the installation begins operation. The preparer must be familiar with LPG properties, the application of NFPA 58 and the facility’s layout, and consult the local fire protection district. The current analysis must be kept at the installation and made available to the Division on request.

For an office file index, identify the installation, where its current analysis is kept and who maintains it. Keep customer service-test records separately identifiable so a request for one does not produce the other. This filing recommendation does not replace the analysis or local consultation.

Other jurisdictions and installation changes may have their own requirements. Check the applicable rule before assuming a threshold applies to every plant.

FAQ

Does the Colorado rule say every household needs this analysis?

The cited provision concerns covered installations and its stated capacity threshold; it is not a requirement for every household customer file.

Can a generic form alone establish site compliance?

The analysis must address the actual installation and the required local consultation.
