PERC is replacing CETP with the PERC Education Program (PEP). Check the current PERC program text and your state licensing rule before you treat PEP as a drop-in CETP substitute. Existing CETP completions stay on the PERC transcript. Operators often call it the propane education program. PEP uses shorter modules with a knowledge check at the end of each module, not the old one-exam-plus-skills-evaluator CETP certificate. Many state licensing rules still say CETP by name.
What is changing?
PERC is retiring CETP. The replacement is PEP, the PERC Education Program — no certification exam, module-by-module testing, completions on an online transcript instead of a paper certificate. That is the same account as this site's training page. CETP is the Certified Employee Training Program. PERC built it; NPGA has run it since 2012.
Do existing CETP completions expire?
No. Your existing CETP completions are still good. They stay on your PERC Learning Center transcript. Nothing expired the day PEP started. Confirm the current PERC program text.
Do state licensing rules already say PEP?
Many still say CETP by name. This site's training page notes that Pennsylvania, for one, requires CETP training of LP-Gas Technician License applicants, and that few states have said in writing yet that PEP satisfies the same rule. Check the current program text and your state rule. Do not assume a neighboring state's letter is yours.
