Should Propane Drivers Use Personal or Company Phones for a Safety App?

Use the setup your company can support. If you can't say how work access will be handled on a personal phone, settle that before you ask the crew to use one.

Decide who owns the phone

For company phones, name who hands them out and who takes them back. For personal phones, agree on work use, who helps when one breaks, and what happens when the driver changes phones or leaves. Have HR and your tech lead review the policy. Rules on employee phones and privacy vary, so check yours with your own counsel.

Propane Safety Pro says the app works on Apple and Android. Confirm which versions and models your rollout needs. That statement does not approve every phone in the crew. Product source

The app page also describes smartphone and tablet use. If you are weighing a pocket phone against an assigned tablet, test both. Product source

Talk about work data

The field record includes photos and location. Ask the provider to show when each is captured and where the photos show up. Put those answers in your policy. This page makes no claim about tracking or about access to personal content. Product source

The app works without cell signal and syncs when it is back in range. Set a charging and connection routine with the crew, and decide how a driver confirms the day's work arrived. Product source

Try it on the real device

Have a volunteer test the proposed phone while parked, away from hazardous work. Check that the screens are readable, photos work, and they can follow along without a coach reaching for the phone.

Use that device for a demo of one sample job with one driver and one office reviewer before planning a wider rollout.

Write down who handles a damaged phone, a lost phone and an access change. Ask the provider what account controls exist. Don't assume remote wipe, separating personal data, or device management is included.

The goal: the driver has one clear routine, and someone in the office owns support.

Request demo access and test the phone setup you would give your crew.
